Escape Attempt is a cerebral science fiction thriller, based on a 1962 novel by the brothers Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. A soldier escaping a WWII concentration camp finds himself on an unknown planet in a distant future only to discover a frozen gulag controlled by a brutal alien race.
The short premiered at the 56th Sitges International Film Festival and has since won multiple awards, including the Navigator Pirx Award for Best Sci-Fi Film at Tallinn’s Black Nights HÕFF Festival, the Audience Award at Les Utopiales, Best Short at SFFF Belgrade, Best Sci-Fi and the Grand Prize at FilmQuest, and Best Production Design at the Cannes Indie Shorts Awards.
